Jazz Mass

The Russell Malone Trio joins us for a vibrant and unique worship service on Sunday, Nov. 13, at
11 a.m.

Free and open to all.

St. James' Episcopal Church, founded in 1941, is an intentionally inclusive community where we work to practice a ministry of radical hospitality, in which we are welcoming, respectful, and nurturing.

Our worship is joyful! We value our beautiful, spirited, and varied music. We appreciate creative expressions in liturgy and the arts. We value good preaching. We seek ways for worship to be a nurturing experience for children.

Sunday service times are 8 a.m., 10:15 a.m., 1 p.m. (Spanish Language) and 5:30 p.m.  No matter where you are on your journey of faith, you are welcome at this table.

For seventeen years, Jazz at St. James' has presented top-flight jazz concerts, workshops and worship services as an outreach to the Austin community.  Our artists have included David "Fathead" Newman, Hank Crawford, Cedar Walton, Javon Jackson, Donald Harrison, Louis Hayes, and George Cables.

The A.D. Mannion Award, presented at Jazz at St. James' since 2002, is given to a community musician or educator who embodies qualities associated with the late drummer for whom it is named:

  • Commitment to faith, love and reconciliation through the God-given gift of music;

  • Celebration of and dedication to music as a unifying language;
  • Generosity in contributing time, talent and spirit to the music community and the larger human family;
